Typical Applications

Properties
Electrographite
On large commutator machines with high electrical, thermal and mechanical demands on brushes Good electrical and thermal conductivity as well as good sliding properties. By varying the raw material and the manufacturing process it is possible to achieve certain combinations of properties

Metal Graphite
On machines with high electrical load on the brushes and no or small commutating demands, like sliprings and low voltage machines; Silver grades are mainly used on tacho generators or for measuring purposes A combination of the good sliding ability of the graphite and the high conductivity of the metal is achieved and, depending on the graphite content, the one or the other is more dominant

RS 70

Resin Bonded Graphite
On three phase AC commutator motors and on small DC machines Good commutation but limited ability to carry load

RX 88

RX 91

Hard Carbon
On small machines with undercut mica between segments and on small thyristor fed DC machines Good polishing ability, good commutation, but the ability to carry electrical load is less than that of brushes made from electrographite
